Gay Comix/Comics Interactive Index

This page has tables of contents and a complete index of Gay Comix 1 through 14, Gay Comix Special 1, and Gay Comics 15 through 25. In the list of tables of contents, the special is listed chronologically between issues 14 and 15. The index includes creators, features, story titles, and known reprint publications.

This material was first compiled as Gay Comix/Comics Listing and Index, a hard-copy fanzine published in February 2003 for the 100th mailing of APA-I, the amateur press association for indexing. This version corrects some errors in the fanzine.

Issue 25 included short biographies of nearly every contributor to the entire run. The Gay League has reprinted them here and included some online contact information.

Prism Comics has scans of nearly all of the covers in these two series here and here. They also have short bios of GLBT creators here, including many of the contributors to these series.

Please send any corrections, additions, or comments to denysh@exmsft.com.

Tables of Contents

To Complete Index

There were two publishers of these comics. Kitchen Sink Press (www.deniskitchen.com) published #1-5 from 1980 to 1984. Bob Ross published #6-13 from 1985 to 1988 (but see the note at #13), and #14-25 and the Special from 1991 to 1998. There were three editors: Howard Cruse (www.howardcruse.com) edited #1-4, Robert Triptow (www.roberttriptow.com) edited #5-13, and Andy Mangels (www.andymangels.com) edited #14-25 and the Special.

All of these comics have exterior color covers, with black and white contents and inside covers. Titles are supplied for untitled stories and are enclosed in square brackets. For untitled stories in #1-13, I have supplied a title that is typically the first few words in the story. From #14 on supplied titles typically come from the table of contents in the book itself. "Panels" are single panels, typically a quarter page. "Strips" are multiple panels, typically a horizontal half page or a horizontal quarter page.

People and features which appear in more than one issue are linked to their index entries.
